Product Description

The 57C404C is a Network Communications Card originally developed by Reliance Electric, and it is possible that Asea Brown Boveri or Baldor Reliance also offered this card as part of their product lines. However, these manufacturers no longer support the 57C404C. Although this device can be difficult to find, AX Control makes an effort to keep it in stock, offering it as a refurbished or new surplus item when available. Designed as a DCS Network Communications Module for the AutoMax control system, the 57C404 facilitates the transfer of control and status information between two or more AutoMax controllers within the same network. It operates with a communication speed of 845K baud and can support a network length of up to 3000 feet. Additionally, an RS-232C port is available for performing internal diagnostics to detect hardware failures.

The 57C404C features a faceplate with several key components, including a 7-segment LED indicator labeled "Fault Code," which displays error codes. It also has two thumbwheel switches labeled "DROP NUMBER," with individual settings for "1ST" and "2ND," along with two connection ports, "NETWORK" and "MONITOR," located beneath the switches.

This module connects directly to an AutoMax storage rack using the P1 and P2 female card slots on the backplane. After inserting the card into the rack, it can be securely fixed in place using screws and brackets.
