The PLC MODULE 1785-BCM is a Backup Communications Module (BCM) that is used to provide high-speed switchover of communication path using Data Highway Plus (DH+) and Remote I/O (RIO) protocol. It is used for redundant PLC5 processor configuration and compatible for use with PLC5 processors such as PLC-5/15 series B, -5/20, -5/25, -5/30, -5/40, and -5/60 processors.

About the PLC MODULE 1785-BCM Communication Module
The 1785-BCM Series C module from PLC MODULE is a backup communication module or BCM device. The 1785-BCM Series C backup communication module does not need an external power source. It is designed to be used as a backup communication module for PLC MODULE PLC-5 series programmable controllers including the PLC-5/15 Series B programmable controllers and all of the PLC-5/20, 5/25, 5/30, 5/40, and 5/60 series programmable controllers. The 1785-BCM Series C backup communication module's purpose is to enable rapid data exchange between the PLC processor and other machines that the PLC is connected to, and provides backup communication power to these devices if they lose power. It uses the HSSL or the high-speed serial link. This module increases a PLC’s efficiency and reduces the costs and damage that power failures can cause.
The PLC MODULE 1785-BCM Series C backup communication module supports the exchange of information about the status of the primary and secondary systems that it is attached to and the automatic transfer of the remote input and the block transfer read values from the primary systems to the secondary systems. This backup communication module has 2 channels, but the PLC modules have 4 channels, so the PLC module hosting the backup communication module can also host a 2-channel backup expansion module or BEM device to back up the 2 channels that the backup communication module cannot connect to. The 1785-BCM Series C backup communication module ships with status indicators, a wiring arm, switch assemblies, and a backplane interface.
