About the GE IS200VAICH1DAB ANALOG INPUT/OUTPUT BOARD
IS200VAICH1DAB is an Analog Input/Output Board Manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VI Series used in GE Speedtronic Gas Turbine Control Systems. The VAIC board processes 20 analog inputs and controls 4 analog outputs. Each terminal board handles 10 inputs and 2 outputs, with connections to the VAIC processor in the VME rack via cables. The VAIC converts analog inputs to digital signals, which are transmitted over the VME backplane to the VCMI board and then to the controller. For outputs, it converts digital signals to analog currents, delivered through the terminal board to the customer circuit. The VAIC operates in both simplex and triple modular redundant (TMR) configurations. In a TMR setup, input signals are shared among three VME racks (R, S, T), each with a VAIC, and output signals are managed by a proprietary circuit ensuring the correct current across all three VAICs. If one VAIC fails, it is isolated, and the other two continue to function. In a simplex configuration, inputs go to a single VAIC, which handles all output currents.
OPERATION:
The VAIC board handles 20 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs, featuring signal conditioning, an analog multiplexer, an A/D converter, and a D/A converter. Inputs can include voltage, 4-20 mA signals, or come from a terminal board. Of the 4 outputs, 2 are fixed at 4-20 mA, while the other 2 can be configured for either 4-20 mA or 0-200 mA. Both inputs and outputs have noise suppression circuits to protect against surges and high-frequency interference. In a TMR setup, the analog inputs are distributed across three control racks: JR1, JS1, and JT1. The 24 V DC power for transducers is provided by all three VME racks and is diode OR selected on the terminal board. Each analog current output is generated by the combined currents from all three VAIC boards, with the final output based on the median value of the three current measurements, determined by measuring the voltage across a series resistor.
