The FBM237 is an 0 to 20 mA Output Module equipped with eight channels, each offering galvanic isolation from other channels and ground. This module is versatile in its application, as it can function as a standalone unit or as part of a redundant pair, where two FBM237s are used together. In a redundant setup, field output signals are connected to a common termination assembly, and each module independently maintains its specified output values.

Key features of the FBM237 include its eight 20 mA dc analog output channels, the isolation of each channel, and its capability to be used in both single and redundant configurations. The module’s compact and rugged design makes it suitable for Class G3 (harsh) environments. Additionally, it comes with Termination Assemblies for connecting field wiring either locally or remotely, a TA for use with an Output Bypass Station to preserve outputs during maintenance, and a 3-tier termination assembly for channel-specific, internally and/or externally loop-powered transmitters.
PHYSICAL DESIGN
The FBM237 features a modular design, safeguarded by a rugged extruded aluminum exterior that provides physical protection for the circuits. This design allows for mounting in enclosures that offer various levels of environmental protection, including those suitable for harsh environments (Class G3) as per ISA Standard S71.04. This ensures the module’s durability and reliability in a range of industrial settings.
HIGH RELIABILITY
The FBM237’s high reliability is further enhanced by its redundancy capabilities. When configured in a redundant pair, the modules offer a high coverage of faults, significantly increasing subsystem availability time. A key advantage is the ability to replace either module without disturbing field output signals to the functioning module. This replacement can be done without disconnecting field device termination cabling, power, or communications cabling, ensuring minimal downtime.
FIELDBUS COMMUNICATION
Visual indicators in the form of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on the front of the module provide immediate status indications of the fieldbus module functions. For fieldbus communication, the FBM237 interfaces with a Fieldbus Communications Module or a Control Processor via a redundant 2 Mbps module Fieldbus. The module is capable of accepting communication from either path (A or B) of the 2 Mbps Fieldbus, ensuring continuous communication even if one path fails or is switched at the system level.
