About the Key features of the FBM214 module

The FOXBORO FBM214 module is designed to offer versatile and reliable input capabilities for industrial applications. It features eight analog input channels, each capable of accepting either a standard 4 to 20 mA analog sensor signal or a digital HART Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) signal superimposed on a 4 to 20 mA analog input signal. This dual functionality ensures compatibility with a wide range of sensor types.

Each input channel is equipped with a dedicated FSK modem, enabling bi-directional digital communications with a HART field device. This allows for efficient data exchange and configuration of the field devices. Additionally, the module performs analog to digital conversion of each 4 to 20 mA input signal from the HART devices, ensuring accurate and reliable data transmission.

The FBM214 supports the HART universal commands, which are essential for interfacing the field device with the I/A Series® system database. This feature ensures seamless integration and communication between the field devices and the control system.

For safety and noise reduction, the module provides galvanic isolation of the group of eight input channels from ground and module logic. This rugged design, suitable for Class G3 (harsh) environments, ensures the module can withstand challenging industrial conditions.

The module achieves high accuracy through sigma-delta data conversions for each channel, ensuring precise measurement and control. To facilitate installation and maintenance, the FBM214 comes with Termination Assemblies (TAs) for locally or remotely connecting field wiring to the module. These assemblies are also available for per channel internally and/or externally loop powered transmitters, offering flexibility in system design and operation.
