About the The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System Description

The 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System consists of:
One 3300 XL 8 mm probe,
One 3300 XL extension cable
One 3300 XL Proximitor* Sensor

Provides an output voltage directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface, enabling it to measure both static position and dynamic vibration values, and is primarily used for vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines as well as for Keyphasor reference and speed measurements; this system offers the most advanced performance in our eddy current proximity transducer systems, fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard (4th Edition) for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability, and ensures complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors without the need for matching or bench calibrating individual components; furthermore, each component of the 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System is backward-compatible and interchangeable with other non-XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components, including the 3300 5 mm probe for applications where an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.

3300 XL 8mm Proximity Transducer System Description Notes

The Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System does not utilize an extension cable for one-metre systems, and the Proximitor sensors are factory-calibrated to AISI 4140 steel by default, with the option for calibration to other target materials available upon request. When contemplating the use of this transducer system for tachometer or overspeed measurements, it is advisable to consult Bently Nevada’s Applications Note on considerations for using Eddy Current Proximity Probes in overspeed protection applications. Additionally, 3300 XL 8 mm components are electrically and physically interchangeable with non-XL 3300 5 mm and 8 mm components, fitting the same 4-hole mounting pattern and mounting space specifications as their predecessors, provided that the minimum permissible cable bend radius is observed. However, mixing XL and non-XL 3300-series 5 mm and 8 mm system components will limit the system’s performance to the specifications of the non-XL 3300 5 mm and 8 mm Transducer System.
