Both the 21000 aluminum and 24701 stainless steel housings are designed to comply with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard, which governs the safety and performance of externally mounted proximity probe housings in machinery condition monitoring systems. This certification ensures these housings provide reliable and safe operation in potentially hazardous environments.
For applications with space limitations, Bently Nevada also offers the 164818 Compact Proximity Probe Housing, which is designed for tight spaces while still providing the same robust functionality. The housing is compatible with ceramic-capped probes, offering a versatile solution for various industrial machinery monitoring needs.
When selecting the appropriate sleeve length for the probe and housing assembly, it’s important to ensure the probe lead is longer than the sleeve for proper installation. For sleeve lengths exceeding 304 mm (12 inches), additional support is required to mitigate vibration. Bently Nevada provides a probe support and oil seal (part number 37948-01) for long sleeves that pass through inner bearing housings, ensuring the integrity of the system. Custom sleeve supports are also available for more specialized needs.
